The Front Room Restaurant serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday. The style of our food is defined as "eclectic contemporary cuisine" drawing on a variety of culinary disciplines and focused on fresh regional ingredients. The dining rooms are dressed in linens but our guests are free to be in casual attire.

During the spring, summer and fall seasons the courtyard behind the hotel as well as the sidewalk tables and balcony in front of the hotel are set and ready for open air dining.

The Imperial Hotel has 11 deluxe rooms and 2 suites. The rooms are cozy and well appointed. We offer a balance between the quaintness of an old inn and the comforts of a modern hotel. Each room has Wi-Fi internet connection, phones, color TV, hair driers, alarm clocks, ironing board and irons, heated towel bars, and soft comfortable beds.

Included in your room rate is a continental breakfast served from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the main dining room.

The Parlor Suite

The suite is well appointed with a queen bed, large sitting room, and kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. Situated on the 3rd floor of the hotel facing the town's main street (High Street) the Parlor Suite has its own private balcony overlooking the town's historic district. The balcony and sitting room make the Parlor Suite excellent for entertaining. The suite also has the option of being two bedroom with the adjoining room which has a king bed and separate bath.

The Carriage House Suite

Separated from the main hotel building, the Carriage House suite has the feel of a small efficiency with a private queen bedroom, full kitchen and spacious living room. The suite overlooks the hotels rear courtyard which during the spring and summer months is lush with flowers, an herb garden and a shaded canopy provided by a row of lovely mature crepe myrtles.

Deluxe Rooms

Each of our rooms has their own individual character. They are decorated in authentic period furnishings with antique armoires that house color cable television with remote control and nightstands with telephones. Each room has a private bath with heated towel bars

Each room is unique, filled with a dazzling collection of furniture and fixtures, fabrics and prints. But underneath the flowers and chintz, the brass chandeliers and oriental runners is a modern hotel, with creature comforts a top priority."
The Philadelphia Inquirer, Susan Q. Stranahan

Chestertown's history dates back to 1668 with the first proposals by Governor Charles Calvert to establish a port town on the Chester River. Chestertown was formerly established as the seat of Kent County on April 17, 1706 and the first town plan was drawn a year later. A cross plan was used to delineate the town center with a broad main street, High Street, starting at the waters edge proceeding to the town square where it intersects Cross street. Places of public business were to develop over the years along this simple plan.

History and hospitality are the hallmarks of the Imperial Hotel, both for diners coming for an evening's repast and for overnight visitors. The fare matches the dining rooms in flare, formality and flavor. The presentation of each dish was gorgeous…but portions are generous, bearing no resemblance to the nouvelle cuisine trend. Though the decor would suggest more formality, dinner guests are encouraged to 'come as they are'."

A petite retreat, this tiny Chesapeake hotel recalls yesterday's charm."
