Patriarch of historic Savannah bed and breakfast inns, The Ballastone Inn enjoys the much-envied location in the walking hub of beautiful historic Savannah ... only three blocks away from the Savannah River.
The Inn and its seventeen guest rooms and suites feature fine art, by-gone era elegant interiors, stately architecture, and luxurious comfort. The Inn's honored guests first arrive anticipating the refined surroundings, afternoon tea, and the city's best location. Guests return again and again, however, for the attentive and elegant home-away-from-home feeling.

Each room is uniquely designed and named to depict a special time or place of the past. Chandeliers, rice poster and canopy beds, marble topped tables, cheval mirrors, and comfortable love seats are elegant reminders of the genteel past. |
Most guestrooms have fireplaces, king beds and large sitting areas. Private baths in all rooms, some with whirlpool tubs, have superior terry robes, Caswell Massey toiletries, and hair dryers. Each room has cable TV, a VCR, a video library is available to guests.
The bed and breakfast Courtyard rooms are located on the first floor adjacent to the garden, which adds a special charm. Deluxe guestrooms are on the upper levels of the Inn. Elegant Superior rooms -- located on the third and fourth floors of the inn -- are accessible by a majestic Queen Anne staircase as well as an elevator. The Superior guestrooms have added features of fireplaces, views of the picturesque courtyard or Savannah and a whirlpool bath. The luxurious suites have direct views of the courtyard and each has a two-room bath with separate dressing area.
More than breakfast ...
Nothing is ordinary at The Ballastone! At the break of day, you will wake to find a newspaper and a full southern breakfast ...or your special dietary request ... being served. Afternoon tea is held at 4:00 p.m. in the tearoom, followed by cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Ballastone prepares all the food. In the evening, you return to brandy and chocolates awaiting you.
