"Set on a cliff above perhaps the most stunning stretch of coastline in
California, the Lost Whale Inn is a spectacular retreat."

(Bed & Breakfast Guide, Prentice-Hall)

Situated on 5 wooded acres, the inn has 6 rooms, all with private bath and most with spectacular ocean views. Guests can enjoy the decks, gardens and hot tub which all view the ocean. Included are a huge, gourmet breakfast and afternoon tea.   Located 4 miles north of the village of Trinidad and 20 minutes' drive north of Eureka, the Lost Whale Inn is secluded and quiet, and only fifteen minutes from Redwood National Park, home of the largest trees in the world. There are over 100, 000 acres of hiking trails nearby, and miles of unspoiled beaches. Walk to Patrick's Point State Park, or bicycle, fish, boat, golf, horseback ride or beachcomb within minutes from the inn.

Sunset Magazine named the Lost Whale Inn the best place to stay in Trinidad and noted: "the breakfasts are fabulous." Built in 1989, the inn is quiet, soundproofed and romantic. American Historic Inns chose the Lost Whale as "one of the ten most romantic inns in the entire US."

We are one of the only inns on the west coast that can boast of a scenic, wooded trail leading to our secluded private beach and cove complete with jutting rocks, tide pools that are   brimming with abundant marine life.

You will wake up to the waves crashing over Abalone Cove's breath-taking sea stacks, while hearing and later seeing the barking sea lions that colonize the turtle sea stack just below the Inn.

Our Rooms.....

The Lost Whale Inn has 5 spacious rooms, all with private baths and queen-sized beds. Many rooms have
breath-taking ocean-views, and some have beautiful gardens views. Two of the ocean-view rooms have sleeping lofts for older children or an extra adult. One of the garden view rooms can sleep a family of four or three adults.
